The Chesapeake Bay fish kill is being attributed to low surface temperatures (32.9F late last month: the coldest in 25 years), because the dead fish were mostly juvenile spot, and spot are known to not tolerate water temperatures below 35F.
Are the low surface temperatures caused by global warming?Global warming can cause changes in currents or circulation patterns that cause local cooling.
I don't know, but I would expect 25-year-lows at least once every 25 years.
